The committee generally agreed that the bulky shape of the bird draws attention, but felt that the awkward angle of the bird, as well as shadows, might have contributed to the impression. The committee also generally agreed that the tail of the bird looked long, but with the same caveats as the previous point. Moreover, other key features (mesial stripe, eyering) cannot be seen from the image, and while the thin tail bands are suggestive of Shikra (as opposed to Besra), the Japanese Sparrowhawk cannot be conclusively ruled out either. |
