Descriptions
Identification
Bird was spotted by JJ. Much further compared to 1st hobby seen few days earlier. Bird rose up behind the twin trees and did not linger and was soon seen flying towards Sentosa. It was clear it was a falco and we did manage to get photos. But confidence in identifying this bird was much lower than the 1st hobby. I initially thought that it did look a bit bulky like a peregrine falcon but on closer examination, it probably is more slender. The rufous vent made us more excited. Could it be another hobby or possibly an Amur Falcon? The bird was very far away and therefore photos not as clear as we had hoped. The streaking on the underparts did seem more than it would be on an Amur. The wings probably did not have a black trailing edge. The moustachial stripe is seen in the photos and does look more than it would be an Amur. Photos by Francis in the ebird list are better than those I have uploaded here.
