Descriptions
Identification
Bird not seen (yet), heard only. Characteristic repeated one note metallic call heard, initially identified in the field as coming from a Sakhalin, but recording was later analysed showing the frequency of the call to be 5.6 kHz, suggesting Pale-legged over Sakhalin. Bird was heard by all three birders at the tower, later attempts to find the bird were unsuccessful.
Habitat/behaviour
Heard twice in the early morning from the top of Jelutong Tower. First time heard south of tower slightly after 7.30am and recorded, second time heard after 8am to the west of the tower and perceptibly further away.

Observer's experience
I have not encountered this species before, but the recording was sent to other experienced birders including Kim Chuah Lim and Ding Li Yong who both verify that this is the call of a Pale-legged.
Observer's experience w/similar species
I have heard Sakhalin Leaf Warbler in November 2022 at Macritchie.
