Surveyed Petai Trail in search of leaf warblers and chestnut-winged cuckoo as normally around this time they might be there. When entering Petai Trail boardwalk I heard briefly the characteristic sound of a leaf warbler (metallic repetitive note). I walked further to close the distance and get a sound recording. Near Petai Hut I was able to record the bird, but only very briefly. It then stopped calling and even playback of Sakhalin/Palelegged calls did not make it call out again or show itself. In the field it was not possible to analyze recording which I did at home and it showed an avg. frequency of 5.7kHz which is characteristic for Pale-Legged Leaf warbler (Sakhalin is ~4.6kHz). Recording is embedded in ebird listing. |
