Was observing fruiting fig tree at summit. Specifically looking for the resident yellow-vented flowerpecker. After being at the location for more than 1 hour I was about to leave when I spotted a small flowerpecker in the left-hand side of the fig tree around mid canopy. I have clear views with my bins for about 1min and would describe the bird as: Greyish brown topside, cream belly with diffuse streaking, red eye. Bird showed the characteristic tail wagging Could not get a record shot with my camera due to poor lighting conditions and fast-moving bird |

I have seen this species of bird recently at Dairy Farm in Dec'24 and instantly knew it was a thick-billed flowerpecker when I got a nice unobstructed side view in my bins. |
