Although Northern Boobook is the dominant crashed boobook species in Singapore, the photos did not show any features pointing to a definite identification. |

Identification |
---|
Quite a lean record, only have one photo to show for it, but definitely a Northern Boobook - see photo. Wings look very long and markings appear reasonably thin, both traits match that of the specimens I have seen and retrieved. Given the locality of encounter, I highly doubt that it is a Brown Boobook. |
Habitat/behaviour |
---|
Found lying on its back in grassy verge beside pavement. |
Viewing conditions |
---|
Dead bird, through single photograph provided by member of public "Elizabeth" through the LKCNHM Dead Bird Hotline. |
Observer's experience |
---|
This is the most common nocturnal bird-of-prey salvaged. I handle several specimens every year. |
Observer's experience w/similar species |
---|
Seen Brown Boobook in the field. |
