Identification |
---|
Am submitting this record in case original observer (going by "AC Chia" on Facebook and named as "Chia Aik Chuan" on Mothership article) does not. Kalai from ACRES messaged me for assistance with species identification, providing several photos that clearly showed a Northern Boobook - chest markings are well displayed. Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/groups/179531089457/permalink/10163086940734458 This bird was apparently covered by Mothership too: https://mothership.sg/2025/04/rescued-owl/ |
Habitat/behaviour |
---|
Photos show a grounded bird on grassy verge. It was allegedly attacked by crows and had an injured right eye. |
Viewing conditions |
---|
Quite good, photos from Facebook post and those that Kalai shared with me when it was in rehab in ACRES were clear. I cannot share the photos however as they do not belong to me. The media publicly available on the Facebook post and Mothership article are sufficient. |
Observer's experience |
---|
I'm dead Northern Boobook queen at this point, I've seen so many dead and I still haven't seen them alive irl... |
Observer's experience w/similar species |

Seen Brown Boobook live. The pair at Hindhede quite a few years ago. |
