Identification |
---|
I was observing a flock of Tibetan Sand Plovers 5 metres in front of me when I noticed one bird that stood out from the rest: - Visibly smaller than the Tibetan Sand Plovers - Had warm brown patch behind ears - Had orange tinging behind the eye and around the collar which a breeding Javan Plover adult would have - No orange on crown that a breeding Kentish Plover would have - Had legs that were pale and appeared long compared to the Tibetan Sand Plovers - Had an upright stance with visible neck No photos were taken as bird was seen in a restricted area and red zone. |
Habitat/behaviour |
---|
Bird was on dry tarmac and feeding actively. Was attacked by other Tibetan Sand Plovers when it found food. |
Viewing conditions |
---|
Drizzling but view was clear. Bird was only 5 metres away and seen through binoculars while stationary. |
Observer's experience |
---|
Have not seen the Javan Plover before. |
Observer's experience w/similar species |
