Identification |
---|
Identified as a plover at the local, and I was unable to ID. Fortunately, took some photos that, back home, proved enough to ID the species as probable Oriental Plover. Introduced in eBird as such with the following note: "Not having much experience with this region's birds, I can’t Id this bird other than Oriental Plover. Photos attached. It was here (1.2819507, 103.8698550) by the reservoir margin." In the following days, I noted that it was confirmed by the reviewer, and other eBirders had the same observation on their lists. |
Habitat/behaviour |
---|
The bird was resting at the shore of the reservoir and started to move along the shore as I approached to take the photos. It then walked out of sight, and I left it as it was. |
Viewing conditions |
---|
The day was overcast with occasional rain. No rain when the bird was observed. |
Observer's experience |
---|
Being from Europe, a lifer for me, so no experience with the species. |
Observer's experience w/similar species |
---|
I have some previous experiences with plovers around the world. |
