Described in Medway & Nisbet (1965) as being noticeable larger and stockier than accompanying Little Ringed Plovers but smaller in body than Wood Sandpipers. "It showed a very definite wing-bar in flight, and gave a distinctive soft call "tu-weep", exactly like Ringed Plovers which the observer had heard in Europe. Lores and crown were dull brown, shading to near black on nape; forehead and stripe behind eye white; dull brown band across breast; bill dark; legs dull orange flesh.". Note that Wang & Hails (2007) does not list specific records for this species. |
