Background |
---|
No descriptions available in Wells (1984). The full text from the primary document reproduced here: "One at Serangoon sewerage works on 4 November 1979 (PB) [Paul Bristow] is the second for Singapore. There are no records earlier than November and occurrence in our area could be an outcome of seasonal (monsoon) weather changes in the main Indochinese wintering area.". Although this record is accepted by both Wang & Hails (2007) and Lim (2009), we find this record difficult to accept without a detailed description of the bird. The Serangoon Estuary is a site well known for shorebirds and waders, and it seems rather unlikely that a Woodcock would be found in a tidal habitat next to a heron or a greenshank. We suspect that it was highly likely a snipe instead. |
