Descriptions available in Wells (1984) of a medium-phased adult migrating with Honey-buzzards and Sparrowhawks. They are reproduced here: "It had a conspicuously dark brown head and very pale underparts including wings, with little discernible barring. The size differential against Honey-Buzzard was obvious, as was the large 'owlish' head." |
