Background |
---|
A historical record that cannot be verified, and thus not accepted by our Records Committee. Details as follows. From Robinson (1910), quote: "A specimen obtained some years ago in Singapore is now in the Raffles Museum of that city". Gibson-hill (1950) does not accept the record and states, quote: "Robinson (1910:7) lists a specimen of the Longeared Owl, Asio Otus Linn., said to have been taken in Singapore a number of years previously. It is no longer extant, but must presumably have been the Asio sp. collected by Ridley in the Botanic Gardens about 1900, and then identified as A. flammeus (Ridley, 1901: 105)." |
