Background |
---|
Two birds. One immature male and one female. Photographs and details of the record is included in the Bird Ecology Study Group blog (see other link) and SINAV 22:8. This is a misidentified Violet Cuckoo: an Asian Emerald Cuckoo will have much greener plumage (not bronze-green), lack the rufous head seen in the photograph, and have either a yellow bill with black tip (in females) or black upper mandible and flesh-coloured lower mandible (in juveniles). (To note: this record is accepted by the Nature Society (Singapore) as an Emerald Cuckoo, see comments in the BESG link as well as link in the NSS blog). |
