Conflicting information: Wang & Hails (2007) lists a British Museum specimen under the Hume Collection, dated 8 February 1879 from Bukit Timah Road. Searching the British Museum database on 4 April 2021 at https://data.nhm.ac.uk/dataset/collection-specimens did not yield any specimen from Singapore. This record is not listed in Lim (2009) that instead mentions a specimen from 10 August 1879, also from Bukit Timah Road, citing Kelham (1883) in-text. However Lim (2009) but provides no such document in the reference list. The correct citation should be Kelham (1881) instead (document is included in the relevant links), which indeed states that a specimen was collected on 10 August 1879 at Bukit Timah Road. This record by Kelham (1881) is not listed in Wang & Hails (2007). It is unclear whether these two refer to the same records, and why either records were missing from each respective compilation, but they are here assumed to refer to the same specimen. Besides, Gibson-Hill (1950) lists that this species was "Resident, in small numbers. Seen mostly in open scrub and it may not have been as rare in the past as it is in modern times (2010~). |
